Their dream of safety and economic security is often shattered by immediate incarceration and life on the poverty line.

Combating prejudice based on colour or ethnicity, and campaigning for the dignity and rights of those who come to Britain seeking shelter from harm, are key elements in the work of refugee and minority organisations in the UK today.
